dicono!...

Humphrys condemned over Kosovo interview
By Tom Leonard, Media Correspondent
THE BBC has reprimanded John Humphrys after the
Secretary General of Nato complained that the Radio 4
Today presenter used an interview about Kosovo as a
"platform for his own opinions".
The corporation's governors announced yesterday that
they have upheld a complaint by Lord Robertson of
Portellen, the former Defence Secretary, that Humphrys
had "not met proper BBC standards".
Lord Robertson said that during the interview, which
was broadcast in February, Humphrys's repeated
interruptions amounted to a "critical running
commentary". The governors' programmes complaints
committee admitted that the tone of the questioning
was "inappropriate" and the frequency of interruptions
"ill-judged". They said Rod Liddle, the editor of
Today, had spoken to Humphrys about the interview and
warned him not to do it again.
It is the second time in little more than a year that
Humphrys has been criticised over his treatment of
Lord Robertson. In March 1999, he was attacked by
politicians for an interview in which he repeatedly
interrupted the then Defence Secretary and insisted
the war in Kosovo was a "mess".
The governors said: "Although the premises of Mr
Humphrys's questions referred to views expressed by
others rather than opinions of his own, the tone of
the questioning was inappropriate at times and the
frequency of interruption was ill-judged."...
