La Televisione croata ha trasmesso ieri sera un filmato registrato
durante una riunione del vertice politico e militare della Croazia
che e' stata tenuta alla vigilia dell'azione militare «Tormenta» il
31 luglio del 1995 sulla isola Brioni. Nel corso della riunione il
presidente croato Franjo Tudjman ha dichiarato che ai serbi bisognava
infliggere colpi che avrebbero causato la loro scomparsa. In base ad
alcune dichiarazioni pronunciate durante questa riunione il tribunale
dell'Aia ha accusato i generali croati Ante Gotovina, Ivan Cermak e
Mladen Markac di aver partecipato all'impresa criminale del vertice
politico e militare della Croazia lo scopo della quale era la pulizia
etnica dei serbi dalla Croazia. Tudjman ha detto che i serbi dovevano
essere cacciati via e sparire dalla Croazia e che bisognava
lasciargli una via di scampo, perche' in questo modo l'esercito dei
serbi croati sarebbe stato demoralizzato. Tudjman ha ordinato che
venisse bombardata la citta' di Knin. Durante la riunione e' stato
comunicato che la Croazia per l'azione militare Tormenta aveva
appoggio della Germania e della NATO e che essa sarebbe stata
approvata dagli Stati Uniti, se fosse stata eseguita in modo
professionale in pochi giorni, al pari dell'azione effettuata nella
Slavonia occidentale. La procura statale della Croazia ha confermato
precedentemente che questo filmato e' autentico. Secondo i dati delle
associazioni dei profughi serbi della Croazia nella Tormenta sono
stati uccisi 2.400 serbi, la meta' dei quali erano civili, mentre 250
mila serbi sono stati costretti ad abbandonare il territorio croato.
Tutte le loro case e edifici pubblici sono stati saccheggiati. Circa
20 mila case sono state date alle fiamme.

HTV objavila dokaze protiv nekadašnjeg hrvatskog državnog tima
Hrvatska televizija je sinoć objavila tonske snimke sa sastanka
hrvatskog civilnog i vojnog vrha 31. jula 1995, na Brionima,
neposredno uoči vojne akcije «Oluja» u Kninskoj krajini, na kome je
tadašnji hrvatski predsednik Franjo Tuđman izjavio je da Srbima
treba naneti takve udarce da praktično nestanu. Na osnovu nekih od
izgovorenih navoda, Tužilaštvo Haškog tribunala je zasnovalo
optužnicu protiv hrvatskih generala Ante Gotovine, Ivana Čermaka i
Mladena Markaša, uz tvrdnju da je reč o zločinačkom poduhvatu
hrvatskog državnog vrha u cilju planiranog etničkog čišćenja Srba
iz Hrvatske. Tuđman se, uz izjavu da Srbi moraju nestati, zalažio za
njihovo iseljavanje, rekavši da im "treba dati izlaz, što će
psihološki delovati na njihovu vojsku", i zatražio od vojnog vrha
dejstvovanja po Kninu. Na sastanku je saopšteno i da Hrvatska za
akciju ima podršku Nemačke i NATO-a, kao i SAD ukoliko «Oluja»
bude izvršene na profesionalan način, kao je to učinjeno u Zapadnoj
Slavoniji, u roku od nekoliko dana. Državno tužilaštvo Hrvatske je
ranije potvrdilo da su snimci sa sednice autentični. U "Oluji" je,
prema podacima izbegličkih srpskih organizacija, ubijeno 2.400 Srba,
od kojih je gotovo polovina civila i proterano oko 250.000 gradjana
srpske nacionalnosti. Sva njihova domaćinstva i javne ustanove su
opljačkane, a procenjuje se da je spaljeno i uništeno 20.000 srpskih
objekata.

CROATIA: FORMER PRESIDENT 'PLANNED ETHNIC CLEANSING OF SERBS'
Zagreb - A video has surfaced in Croatia allegedly
showing Croatia’s late president Franjo Tudjman and
other members of the country's top military and
political leadership planning the 'Storm' military
operation that between July and September 1995 drove
over 200,000 Serbs from Croatia and killed hundreds.
Commenting on the footage aired on state television
late on Wednesday, a lawyer for Anton Gotovina, one of
three generals indicted for war crimes against
civilians during the 'Storm' operation, Luka Misetic
said on Thursday: "it does not damage nor is it useful
for my client's defence."
The video allegedly shows key moments from a meeting
the country’s top military and political leadership
held on the island of Brioni on 31 July 1995, on the
eve Operation Storm, which resulted in the exile of
most ethnic Serbs. In it Tudjman apparently speaks of
planning the future expulsion of Serbs from Croatia,
mentioning "blows that will make the Serbs all but
disappear, in other words, those we don’t reach
immediately, must capitulate in the next few days."
Some of the footage forms the basis of the United
Nations war crimes tribunal for the former Yugslavia's
indictments against the three Storm generals:
Gotovina, Ivan Cermak and Mladen Markac.
The Hague tribunal's prosecutors considers the content
of the video as proof of existence of a criminal
enterprise to forcibly remove the Serb population from
Croatia.
According to the Hague indictment 'Storm' was a part
of a “joint criminal undertaking," aimed at ethnically
cleansing Serbs from Croatia.
The indictment, unveiled in 2001, also named Tudjman
as the mastermind of the ethnic cleansing campaign but
he died in 1999 before he could stand trial.

The footage shows Tudjman speaking of planning the
future withdrawal of Serbs, that the Hague Tribunal
considers to be a plan for ethnic cleansing.
According to the Croatian state television, HRT,
Tudjman reportedly told his generals the Storm
operation received backing from Germany and NATO.
