AI SERBI NEGATO L'ACCESSO AL CIMITERO CAUSA RITROVAMENTO FOSSE COMUNI
KOSOVO SERBS DENIED ACCESS TO SERBIAN GRAVEYARD
About 80 graves were found in Kosovo
The exhumation of the remains that were found in an Orthodox graveyard
in Orahovac (Kosovo) will be performed without the participation of the
Serbian community in the region and without the Serbian Orthodox Church.
This was reported by Radio Jugoslavija.
Representatives of the UN civil mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) started the
official examination of the orthodox graveyard in Orahovac. A new
unknown burial site was discovered there last Thursday, which contains
about 80 graves.
Allegedly, the newly-found burial site might be a place wher the bodies
of Kosovo Serbs were buried. These people were either missing or
kidnapped. According to eyewitnesses, an UNMIK helicopter filmed the
graves after they were discovered. The official examination of the grave
started two days ago. Neither Serbs, nor the Socialist Party of Serbia
were notified, yet, the Albanians were rather active. The Belgrade
newspaper Danas reported that no access to the gravesite is allowed for
Serbs. They were not given any information about the process of the
investigation either.
Local Serbs have not been buried there since NATO's bombing in the
spring of 1999. The graveyard is situated in an Albanian area of the
town. A Serbian delegation managed to visit the graveyard on June 10th
last year. This only became possible after numerous appeals to KFOR
representatives. That visit was the first since foreing soldiers were
forces deployed in Kosovo.
The gravesite is horrible. Over 100 tombstones have been either damaged
or completely demolished. Some of the tombstones had symbols or writings
of the terrorist Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army written on them in red
paint.
Serbian priests recently noticed new graves during their visit to the
burial ground. It could be seen that these new graves appeared not long
ago. Representativs of the Socialist Party of Serbia stressed that the
bodies were not buried according to Serbian Orthodox tradition. It is
not ruled out that there is also another mass grave near a church in
Orahovac. New graves have also been found in a gypsy graveyard in
Orahovac.
According to Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, the autonomous
region of Kosovo has turned into a breeding ground of international
terrorism. Albanian armed groups continue to grow stronger, and the
"international community" does nothing. Assaults on civilians in
Macedonia and on the Serbian border have increased lately as well. In
this connection, the Serbian government promised to raise the question
pertaining to the arrest of the leaders of the so-called Kosovo
Liberation Army. The issue is to be touched upon within the scope of the
"war on terrorism."

STUPRATE DUE GIOVANISSIME SERBE A KOSOVSKA MITROVICA
STEINER CONDEMNS RAPE OF TWO GIRLS FROM NORTHERN KOSOVSKA MITROVICA
PRISTINA, Oct 1 (Tanjug) - UNMIK chief Michael Steiner
condemned in the strongest terms the kidnapping and rape of two
underage girls from the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica and
underlined that international police will form a special group
to investigate the case and arrest the perpetrators of that
criminal act.
The two girls, aged 14 and 17, for which Steiner on Tuesday
said were of Serbian nationality, were kidnapped last week-end
in Kosovska Mitrovica, and then taken to Pristina, where, as it
was reported earlier, they were raped by six ethnic Albanians.
After the kidnapping, it was said that the girls were
ethnic Albanian, then on Monday UNMIK said that one was of
Serbian, and the other of Muslim nationality. Tanjug's sources
in Pristina confirmed that the girls were kidnapped from a
so-called mobile cultural container for young people aged 14-21
on Ibar bridge organized for young people to get to know each
other by the UN, under Steiner's auspices.
However, UNMIK police spokesman in Pristina Barry Fletcher
told Tanjug that the girls were kidnapped in the southern part
of Kosovska Mitrovica. Meanwhile, international police stated
that two kidnappers have been arrested - ethnic Albanians.

Brekovac, presso Djakovo. I cadaveri erano
1999. Sin dall'inizio della missione Kfor, l'area
era sotto il controllo dei soldati italiani.
Le sepolture, tutte in fosse singole, risalgono
ai giorni immediatamente successivi alla fine del
conflitto. «I cadaveri sono stati trasferiti
all'obitorio di Rahovec - ha detto all'Ansa
Secondo
rappresentanti serbi in Kosovo - e fonti dell'Onu
civili serbi e rom uccisi dai miliziani albanesi
eventuali caduti in combattimento. Resta tuttavia
umanitaria».

REMAINS OF 35 BODIES FOUND
Belgrade, Oct 2 (Beta) - Pathologists of the Coordinating
Center for Kosovo and Metohija and UNMIK found remains
of 35 bodies, presumably of Kosovo Serbs and Roma, in the
Brekovac hamlet, near Djakovica.
The head of the Coordinating Center's exhumation bureau,
Slavisa Dobricanin, told BETA that "according to certain
items found at the site, the victims were most probably
Serbs, and it is possible that some of them were Romas".
"We also found some evidence of torture and physical abuse,
such as handcuffs," Dobricanin said and announced an
autopsy for next week, when the identity of the victims
will be known in detail.
So far, the experts of the Coordination Center have exhumed
remains of 43 Serb victims, of whom two thirds have been
identified.
REMAINS OF 35 BODIES FOUND IN KOSOVO, BELIEVED TO BELONG TO SERBS
KOSOVSKA MITROVICA, Oct 3 (Tanjug) - Kosovo-Metohija
coordination centre and UNMIK forensic experts found in the hamlet of
Brekovac near Djakovica the remains of 35 bodies, believed to belong
to Kosovo Serbs. Head of the coordination centre's exhumation office
Slavisa Dobricanin said on Thursday that traces of torture and
abuse, including handcuffs, had been found on the bodies.
Dobricanin told the Kontakt Plus radio of Kosovska Mitrovica
that the exhumation had lasted for the past three days. "Thirty-five
bodies were exhumed. It is not completely certain, but I believe that
they belong to Serbs," Dobricanin said and added that the bodies
had been transferred to the Autopsy Centre in Orahovac and that
autopsy and identification of the bodies would be completed next
week.

So far, the experts of the Coordination Center have exhumed
remains of 43 Serb victims, of whom two thirds have been
identified.
