UNMIK customs prevent shipment of humanitarian aid for
Serbian Orthodox Church

19:27 GRACANICA , Jan 6 (Tanjug) - Serbian Orthodox
Church (SPC) Bishop Artemije of Raska and Prizren on
Tuesday sent an open letter to United Nations
Kosovo-Metohija mission UNMIK chief Harri Holkeri,
pointing out to him that the UNMIK customs are openly
violating human rights and discriminating against
Serbs.
UNMIK customs prevented humanitarian for the SPC in
the province from reaching its destination - it was a
shipment of heating oil for the SPC Eparchy in Prizren
and the Medieval Gracanica Monastery, the letter said.

Vandals target Orthodox church in Kosovo

GRACANICA -- Tuesday – The Serbian Orthodox Church has
condemned an attack on a church just outside the
Kosovo capital Pristina.
A statement from the Raska-Prizren Eparchy said the
interior of the St Petar and St Pavle Church in Gornja
Brnjica was vandalised yesterday.
It follows a break-in at the same church two weeks ago.

Serbian Orthodox church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Gornja Brnjica, near
Pristina, desecrated

"The spectacle I found was horrible," the Pristina parish priest told
the ERP KIM Info Service. "The vandals had scattered the holy chalice,
the Holy Scriptures, the candle holders and icons on the floor of the
church. After a detailed examination, I discovered that two silver
candle holders were missing from the holy altar table, one icon lamp
and all the money from sold candles and donations," said Fr. Miroslav

ERP KIM Info Service
Gracanica, January 6, 2004

Pristina parish priest Fr. Miroslav Popadic informed the Diocese of
Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija that during his visit on Monday to
the village of Gornja Brnjica, five kilometers north of Pristina, he
found that the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, built in 1975, had been
desecrated.
"Unknown assailants probably tried to break down the metal doors which
remained stuck so they then cut through three metal bars on the
window, broke the window and entered the church," stated Fr. Miroslav.
The priest and parishioners were consequently unable to enter the
church through the door and immediately called members of the Kosovo
Police Service, who checked the church to make sure it was not mined.
Finally a Serb member of the KPS entered the church through the window
and opened the door for the priest and the gathered villagers so they
could inspect the church.
Miroslav.
Forty days ago unknown persons broke into the Church of Sts. Peter and
Paul through the bell tower, climbing down the rope of the bell. On
that occasion only the money was stolen but the objects within the
church were not disturbed.
In the mixed village of Gornja Brnjica there is a total of 47 Serb
families with 187 members. After June 1999 eight Serb families left
their homes in the Albanian part of the village and for the past more
than four years have been unable to return their homes for fear of
attacks.
The Church of Sts. Peter and Paul is located at some distance from the
village, in the woods next to the Orthodox cemetery. It is possible to
get to the church completely unobserved from the direction of the
neighboring Albanian village of Sinji Do, from where local residents
believe the vandals probably came. The present-day church was built in
1975 on the ruins of the medieval Church of St. Nicholas, destroyed
during the Turkish occupation.
The Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija most vehemently
condemns this latest case of desecration of Orthodox holy shrines in
Kosovo and Metohija. Only a few days after an attempt by Pristina
municipal authorities to usurp the church property on which the
Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Pristina has been built at
the urging of the University of Pristina and the Kosovo Ministry of
Education, a second "Christmas present" from Albanian extremists
followed.
Although the police has launched an investigation in this most recent
case of church desecration, it appears that this case of attack on the
property of the Serbian Orthodox Church is as unlikely to be resolved
as any of the others.

Danish Kfor brutally searches Kosovo Serb village of

14:09 ZVECAN , Jan 6 (Tanjug) - The way in which
members of the Danish Kfor have searched the Kosovo
Serb village of Matica near Zvecan, demolishing houses
and leaving chaos wherever they went, has embittered
the villagers, the regional Most TV in Zvecan said on
Tuesday.
Strongly denouncing this, as they said, barbarian act,
the local inhabitants said that God knows for how many
times now, a brutal search of Kosovo Serb houses
villages and houses was being carried out in the eve
of major Orthodox holidays.

Russian Information Agency (Novosti) - January 7, 2004

RUSSIAN DELEGATION STONED BY KOSOVARS

DECIANY, KOSOVO, JANUARY 7, 2004, /RIA-NOVOSTI
CORRESPONDENT OLGA LIPICH/ -- Kosovo's Albanians
stoned a bus carrying members of a Russian delegation
from the non-governmental St. Andrew foundation here
today. The Russian delegation is staying on a
humanitarian mission in Kosovo since January 4.
The incident happened in Deciany town where Kosovars
live, after an Orthodox Christmas service involving
Russian-delegation members wound up. Russian
journalists, who are accompanying the delegation, were
mostly riding in the bus.
One bus window was shattered; happily enough, no one
was hurt.
The Russian delegation is escorted by large KFOR units
all over Kosovo.
Previously, the Russian delegation met Serb families
in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Only about 150
Serbs are now staying in Pristina, the Russian
delegation was told; all of them have to live inside
one apartment house, which is guarded by
peace-keepers. They have virtually become isolated.
Pristina university professor Lubisa Folic says that
40,000 Serbs used to live in Pristina before the
introduction of KFOR units in 1999, accounting for 40
percent of the entire local population. Folic now
works in the city of Kosovska-Mitrovica where most
Serbs now live, and where his university was forcibly
transferred in 1999.
Folic once came home to find that his apartment had
been burglarized and seized by Kosovars. They
suggested that Folic sell his apartment for half its
price, kicking him out when he refused.
Quite a few Serb apartments were seized by Kosovars.
Meanwhile local courts have recently started siding
with former apartment owners, provided they can submit
documents proving the apartments had previously
belonged to them, Russian peace-keepers say. (About
100 Russian peace-keepers are currently stationed in
Kosovo -- Ed.) However, those few Serbs, who have the
guts to move back, are being killed rather often.

Kosovar Albanians throw stones at RF delegation in
Kosovo

BELGRADE, January 7 (Itar-Tass) - Over 300 Kosovar
Albanians threw stones at a bus carrying a delegation
of the Russian Andrei Pervozvanny Fund and the
Russian-Serbian Friendship Society on Wednesday.
The delegation is in Kosovo on a humanitarian mission
from January 4. No Russians were hurt during the
incident. Two windows were broken in the bus carrying
30 people, said Ivan Ziton, chairman of the
Russian-Serbian Friendship Society.
The incident occurred after the Christmas service in
the Visoki Decani Monastery. The service was attended
by head of the U.N. interim administration in Kosovo
Hari Holkeri accompanied by KFOR and UN police units,
the Belgrade BETA news agency reported.
Patriarch Pavel of the Serbian Orthodox Church and
other religious hierarchies celebrated in certain
orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo on
Wednesday.
Representatives of the Serbian National Assembly
condemned the attack on the bus carrying Russians and
Serbs who took part in the Christmas services in
orthodox monasteries and churches in Kosovo. They
noted, “This attack proves of Kosovar Albanians’
attitude towards the Orthodox world.”

KOSOVO SERBS DEMAND APOLOGY FROM UN POLICE FOR HIDING TRUTH ABOUT
ATTACK

FoNet - January 8, 2004

Belgrade, 8 January: The Raska-Prizren Eparchy today asked for an
apology from the chief of UNMIK (UN Interim Administration Mission in
Kosovo) police, Stefan Veller, for falsifying and concealing the truth
about yesterday's attack on Russian humanitarians who visited the
Visoki Decani Monastery on Wednesday (7 January).
Concealing the truth and falsely informing the public is a form of
collaboration with the extremists' attack and a support for violence,
the statement says.
The Raska-Prizren Eparchy expects the Russian Foreign Ministry and the
Russian Federation mission in the UN to submit a strong protest
against the Kosovo Albanian attack on its citizens.
The statement says that (Harri) Holkeri (UNMIK chief) visited Decani
and had talks with the head of the municipality, but had not been
informed of the incident.
Moreover, UNMIK continues to insist that no incident had occurred as
the latest police report issued today does not mention any kind of
incident in Decani on Christmas Day (Orthodox, 7 January).
The (Decani) municipality UNMIK chief Louis Perez visited the Decani
Monastery today and said that neither the UNMIK police nor Kfor
(NATO-led Kosovo Force) had any kind of information regarding the
incident, and as he said, the local UNMIK police chief was present in
the centre of town at the time and he "did not see anything".
One of the eye-witnesses to the incident, Prof Dr Ljubisa Folic, said
that the attack on the three minibuses, escorted by French and Polish
members of the UNMIK police, happened after returning from the
Christmas service in the Visoki Decani Monastery, which was attended
by UNMIK chief Harri Holkeri.
Folic said that about 1,000 (Kosovo) Albanians were waiting in the
centre of Decani and greeted the travellers with swearing, whistling
and stones.
"A large stone hit the bus window which shattered into many pieces. Two
Russian women sitting next to the window threw themselves on the floor
in fear. They sustained light scratches. We had the feeling that there
would be a lynching. The UNMIK police driver increased his speed and
the column of vehicles continued in the direction of Pec without
stopping," Folic said.
The column stopped once it arrived at Belo Polje, where the travellers
transferred to a military personnel carrier, he added, pointing out
that the UNMIK police had seen the damage done, while Russian
journalists had recorded the moment of attack.
The Visoki Decani Monastery brotherhood has also protested against the
attack on the monastery's guests, the statement says.

Serbian population in Kosovo suffers hardship - Melnik

18:19 MOSCOW , Jan 10 (Tanjug) - The Serbian
population in Kosovo suffers hardship, said Saturday
Alexander Melnik, president of the Russian Andrei
Pervozvanny Fund, who was part of the delegation that
this week visited, together with Russian journalists,
Kosovo and Metohija on a humanitarian mission.
"Monasteries and sacred places are attacked. That is
why Serbs forced to leave their homes," said Melnik,
recalling that in Pristina there were 20,000 Serbs
before the war in Kosovo and that the population has
now reduced to 150 people.

Uniti, Russia, Italia, Germania, Francia e Gran Bretagna). (ANSA).

SERB DEPUTIES IN KOSOVO ASSEMBLY REFUSE TO PAY RESPECT TO RACAK
"VICTIMS"

SRNA - January 15, 2004

Pristina, 15 January: The Serb deputies in the Kosovo-Metohija Assembly
refused during today's parliamentary session to pay respect to the
Albanians killed in the village of Racak near Stimlje. The minute of
silence was observed on the fifth anniversary of that event.
The head of the Return floor group, Dragisa Krstovic, said that the
call to the deputies to pay respect to the Racak victims by Kosovo
Speaker Nexhat Daci was an act of incitement to hatred and stirred up
emotions.
On behalf of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Sabri Hamiti said that
the Return coalition was an irresponsible group which was given its
mandates as gifts.
"You have endorsed Belgrade's destructive policy towards Kosovo, but if
you had any morals, which you do not, you would have then paid respect
to the Racak victims," Hamiti said addressing the Serb deputies during
the first parliamentary session this year.
Despite opposition from the deputies of the Return coalition, the
assembly demanded that all Serb deputies should be stripped of their
mandates and that all officials in Kosovo institutions who took part
in the parliamentary elections in Serbia should lose their posts. They
were referring to members of the Socialists (Socialist Party of
Serbia) and the Radicals (Serbian Radical Party).
The demand was put on the agenda of a future assembly session.

Terrorist financier arrested in Switzerland

BELGRADE -- Wednesday – Police in Switzerland have
arrested an ethnic Albanian man said by the
authorities in Belgrade to be the main financier of
terrorism in southern Serbia.
A statement from the Serbian security service, the
Security-Information Agency (BIA), said Ridvan Rashiti
headed an organisation “in charge of providing
financial support for Albanian terrorists in Kosovo
and southern Serbia.” The BIA said Rashiti was
affiliated with the Albanian National Army, a group of
armed guerrillas branded “terrorists” by the former
United Nations chief in Kosovo, Michael Steiner.
Liaising with the Albanian National Army in Kosovo,
Rashiti initiated, organised and planned the group’s
terrorist activities in southern Serbia, claimed the BIA.
The statement said he was arrested on an international
warrant issued by the district prosecutor in the
southern Serbian town of Vranje. Extradition
proceedings are underway, it added.

Quattro anni di crimini ignorati
Di Babsi Jones
http://www.clorofilla.it/articolo.asp?articolo=3452

Migliaia di vittime e di desaparecidos per lo più civili e di etnia
serba. Trecentomila cittadini non albanesi espulsi. I nomi degli
appartenenti alle bande terroristiche che operano nell’area. A piede
seimila attacchi

Tanjug - November 4, 2003

Book on terrorism, organized crime in Kosovo and Metohija

17:07 BELGRADE , Nov 4 (Tanjug) - The book entitled
"Ethnic Albanian Terrorism and Organized Crime in
Kosovo and Metohija", published by the Serbian
government, is clear evidence that terrorism and
organized crime exist in the province and that nothing
has been done to stop them, Serbian Prime Minister
Zoran Zivkovic said on Tuesday.
This book can help the provincial United Nations
administration UNMIK and local peacekeeping force
KFOR, the prosecutor's office of the Internatuional
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in
The Hague, and the police forces of numerous European
countries, since organized crime in Kosovo poses a
threat not only to this country, but to other states
as well, Zivkovic said.
