Tifoseria nazionale croata fascista (ustascioide). Niente di nuovo!
Tanto "Dio è coi Croati". E il Papa pure. Ricordare la beatificazione
di Alojzije Stepinac.

L'UEFA INDAGA SULLA CROAZIA PER IL RAZZISMO DEI TIFOSI

Lisbona. L'Uefa ha messo sotto inchiesta la Croazia per il razzismo
manifestato dai suoi tifosi, in particolare nella partita contro la
Francia. (Forse per la storica amicizia dei francesi con i serbi dalla
Prima guerra mondiale, N.o.). Durante le partite della nazionale con la
maglia a scacchi, i suoi sostenitori hanno esposto striscioni con
simboli razzistici (svastiche comprese) e intonato cori dello stesso
tenore. L'Uefa non ha poi affatto gradito gli ululati indirizzati verso
alcuni giocatori della nazionale francese, in particolare Wiltord.
"Potete star certi - ha detto un dirigente- che l'Uefa prenderà
provvedimenti. Li renderemo noti al termine di questi Europei". A
informare la confederazione calcistica del comportamento dei tifosi
croati era il gruppo di lavoro "Il calcio contro il razzismo in
Europa", promotore di una campagna a cui anche l'Uefa stessa ha aderito.

[ Nello scontro che si sta svolgendo - nell'omerta' piu' totale dei
media - al "Tribunale ad hoc" dell'Aia, gli interessi imperialisti
della NATO sono rappresentati da uno staff di 1300 persone
profumatamente pagate (circa 10mila dollari l'anno a testa), mentre gli
interessi della Jugoslavia e di tutti i suoi popoli sono rappresentati
dal solo Slobodan Milosevic, il quale dispone esclusivamente dei miseri
mezzi del suo comitato internazionale di sostegno: l'ICDSM.

L'impresa cui deve far fronte Milosevic appare dunque titanica, ma non
puo' comunque essere abbandonata. Se pure essa avesse solo valore
testimoniale, tale valore sarebbe comunque inestimabile, poiche' si
tratta di testimoniare a proposito di almeno un decennio di
macchinazioni e crimini finalizzati alla distruzione di un paese
europeo, ovvero - nelle parole dello stesso Milosevic - finalizzati al
"capovolgimento degli esiti della Seconda Guerra Mondiale" nei Balcani.
Crimini e macchinazioni su cui nessun altro e' stato o sara' mai
intenzionato a fare chiarezza.

La fase della "autodifesa" di Milosevic, il cui inizio era previsto per
lo scorso 5 luglio, e' stata bloccata dai "giudici" usando cinicamente
a pretesto le gravi condizioni di salute di Milosevic... per le quali
NESSUN SERIO PROVVEDIMENTO era mai stato preso sinora nonostante
continue denunce e richieste presentate in tutte le sedi!
I "giudici" di questo processo politico mirano infatti ad impedire a
Milosevic di esprimere il suo punto di vista sulle "accuse" che gli
vengono mosse. L'intenzione e' quella di assegnargli un "avvocato
d'ufficio" che gestisca, per conto di chissa' chi e contro la volonta'
dello stesso Milosevic, tutta la successiva fase dibattimentale. Per
fare pressioni in questo senso, proprio lo scorso 5 luglio, erano
presenti all'Aia i rappresentanti dei governi statunitensi presenti
(Prosper) e passati (Albright)... Cosicche', l'udienza subito bloccata
e' stata rimandata al prossimo 19 luglio.

Peraltro, per poter organizzare la sudddetta autodifesa, producendo
documentazione e testimonianze, Milosevic ed il suo comitato di
sostegno hanno urgente e grave bisogno di denaro. L'ICDSM fa appello
ancora una volta a tutti i simpatizzanti e le persone oneste perche'
contribuiscano, ad esempio usando il conto di appoggio della Sezione

at The Hague on 5th and 6th July, while the "judges" were "thinking"
about their latest decision? Why nobody dared to mention Kosovo and Al
Qaeda - KLA links in the congressional investigation about 9/11?
Because the truth is the mightiest weapon of the People.

1. Ulteriore slittamento - fino al 31 agosto - della fase
dibattimentale della "autodifesa". Nel frattempo, usando in maniera
cinica i problemi di salute di Milosevic, i "giudici" dichiarano di
voler tagliare drasticamente la lista delle testimonianze a favore e di
voler imporre un "avvocato d'ufficio" a Milosevic per impedirgli di
parlare.

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 5 LUG - Per l'udienza di stamani era previsto che
Milosevic prendesse la parola, per un intervento che invece - ha
precisato l'avvocato Tomanovic - dovrebbe aver luogo ''fra una o due
settimane''. I principali guai di salute manifestati dall'ex presidente
jugoslavo durante il processo-fiume dell'Aja - iniziato nel febbraio
del 2002 - hanno riguardato soprattutto problemi cardio-vascolari e di
alta pressione. Milosevic avra' a disposizione 150 udienze nel corso
delle quali ha annunciato di voler interrogare 1.631 testimoni, inclusi
diversi leader politici ancora sulla scena o ritirati da poco quali
Bill Clinton, Tony Blair e Gerhard Schroeder. Sulla lista definitiva,
peraltro i giudici devono ancora pronunciarsi ed e' previsto un
drastico taglio. Nel presentare due settimane fa il suo programma,
Slobo ha parlato di ''flagranti menzogne lanciate contro di me'',

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 5 LUG - Slobodan Milosevic deve assolutamente
riposare ''a causa di una pressione sanguigna molto elevata'': lo ha
indicato un rapporto medico del Tribunale penale internazionale sull'ex
Jugoslavia all'Aja, in coincidenza con la presentazione davanti ai
giudici dell'ex presidente. Poco prima di comparire davanti alla Corte,

MILOSEVIC: TPI; PROBLEMI PRESSIONE, SLOBO DOVRA' RIPOSARE (2)

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 5 LUG - Come aveva gia' preannunciato giorni fa,
prendendo la parola di fronte ai giudici Milosevic ha subito contestato
le accuse rivolte dalla Corte per il suo ruolo nelle guerre balcaniche:
tali imputazioni - ha sottolineato l'ex presidente - sono false e
mostruose, e il Tribunale dell'Aja ha dei pregiudizi contro i serbi.
All'apertura dell'udienza, il presidente della Corte, Patrick Robinson,
ha letto un rapporto medico sottolineando che Milosevic, 62 anni, deve
prendere ''un periodo di riposo''. Un secondo rapporto sulla salute di
Milosevic, anch'esso letto in aula, ha precisato che nei periodi di
stress la pressione dell'ex presidente sale sensibilmente, mentre dopo
un periodo di riposo la pressione cala invece in modo eccessivo.
Pertanto - precisa il documento - i giudici devono ''navigare
costantemente'' tra questi due ostacoli, e tale problema probabilmente
andra' avanti fino alla fine del processo. Nel ricordare che l'avvio
della difesa al processo da parte di Milosevic era appunto prevista per
oggi, Robinson ha segnalato che i due rapporti medici sono stati
ricevuti dalla Corte ''la scorsa settimana''. (ANSA) RIG

MILOSEVIC: TPI; PROCESSO AGGIORNATO SINE DIE

(ANSA) -BRUXELLES 5 LUG - Il processo contro Slobodan Milosevic davanti
al Tribunale penale internazionale (Tpi) per la ex Juvoslavia e' stato
rinviato oggi sine die a seguito delle condizioni di salute
dell'imputato. Il giudice Patrick Robinson ha annunciato che il
calendario delle udienze dovra' subire ''una revisione radicale'', a
seguito dei referti medici presentati dall'accusato secondo i quali
Slobo ha bisogno di periodi di riposo per far fronte a problemi di
ipertensione. Oggi Milosevic, accusato di genocidio, crimini di guerra
e contro l'umanita', doveva cominciare la sua difesa per la quale
avrebbe avuto a disposizione 150 udienze.(ANSA). VS

MILOSEVIC:AVANTI PROCESSO MA ATTENZIONE SU SALUTE SLOBO/ANSA

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 6 LUG - Avanti col processo, ma le condizioni di
salute di Slobodan Milosevic richiedono che l'ex presidente jugoslavo
sia assistito legalmente da un avvocato invece di continuare a
difendersi in prima persona. E' questa la conclusione alla quale sono
giunti oggi i giudici del Tribunale penale internazionale sull'ex
Jugoslavia dell'Aja, che fra il 14 e il 21 luglio riprenderanno il
processo per genocidio, crimini di guerra e contro l'umanita' iniziato
nel febbraio del 2002 contro l'ex uomo forte di Belgrado. Il Tpi ha
annunciato la data del riavvio del processo in una nota che in poche
parole sintetizza quello che di fatto e' il punto attorno al quale il
processo contro Slobo ruota ormai da tempo: ''E' chiaro che l'imputato
non e' in grado di seguire il processo nella sua totalita', ma e'
evidente che la sua salute e' tale che potrebbe non consentirgli di
continuare a difendersi da solo''. I giudici dell'Aja hanno in altre
parole deciso di affiancare Slobo con un avvocato d'ufficio, visto che
finora l'ex presidente - che e' laureato in legge - si e' sempre difeso
da solo e in prima persona dalla mole di accuse per le sue
responsabilita' durante le guerre balcaniche dei primi anni '90. Il
Tribunale ha deciso in sostanza di portare avanti senza tentennamenti
il processo e di fissare la prossima udienza fra il 14 e il 21 luglio,
nel caso pero' in cui - precisa il Tpi - le condizioni di salute
dell'imputato permettano di rispettare tale agenda. Sara' quindi un
cardiologo a stabilire se l'ex presidente jugoslavo potra' continuare a
sostenere la propria difesa. RITMO LENTO. La decisione del Tpi di
introdurre nel processo un avvocato difensore per Slobo accoglie una
richiesta avanzata con insistenza dalla pubblica accusa, che ormai da
mesi sottolinea come sia necessario dare piu' ritmo al procedimento
giudiziario contro Slobo, viste le numerose udienze saltate proprio a
causa della salute del sessantaduenne Milosevic, che soffre problemi
cardiovascolari e di pressione. Gia' ieri, Milosevic aveva manifestato
tutta la sua contrarieta' contro la figura del nuovo difensore. ''Tale
misura non farebbe altro che aumentare lo stress di Milosevic'', ha
chiarito oggi un collaboratore dell'ex presidente jugoslavo,
sottolineando che in realta' il Tpi punta a ''far tacere'' Slobo.
Dichiarazioni alle quali i giudici dell'Aja hanno subito risposto
precisando che ''Milosevic ha tutti gli interessi a che il processo si
concluda in tempi ragionevoli''. Nell'udienza di ieri, il giudice
Patrick Robinson aveva annunciato che il calendario del processo - era
destinato a subire ''una revisione radicale'' a seguito dei referti
medici presentati dall'accusato secondo i quali Slobo ha bisogno di
continui periodi di riposo per far fronte proprio ai problemi di

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 16 LUG - E' slittato al 31 agosto il processo
contro Slobodan Milosevic che doveva riprendere lunedi' prossimo: lo ha
reso noto oggi il Tribunale penale internazionale sull'ex Jugoslavia,
precisando che la decisione e' stata presa per i problemi di salute
dell'ex uomo forte di Belgrado. La pressione sanguigna di Milosevic, 62
anni, non permette che la seconda fase del processo in corso all'Aja -
relativa alla difesa da parte dell'imputato - possa riprendere nella
data prevista, ha sottolineato un medico, citato dal portavoce del Tpi,

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 16 LUG - ''I giudici hanno ritenuto che Milosevic
non puo' assistere all'udienza della settimana prossima sulla base di
un rapporto del suo medico datato 16 luglio riguardante la pressione
sanguigna'' dell'imputato. Milosevic e' accusato di crimini di guerra,
contro l'umanita' e genocidio per le guerre nei Balcani dei primi anni
'90. E' la settima volta di questa seconda fase del processo iniziato
nel febbraio del 2002 che un'udienza viene rinviata a causa dei guai
medici di Slobo, che ha problemi cardiovascolari e di stress. Al
Tribunale dell'Aja e' in discussione da tempo ''la capacita'
dell'imputato'' di portare avanti da solo la propria difesa, come ha
ricordato anche ieri il giudice giamaicano della Corte, Patrick
Robinson, che presiede la camera responsabile del processo contro l'ex
presidente jugoslavo. Qualche giorno fa, i giudici hanno esaminato la
possibilita' di imporre all'ex presidente jugoslavo un avvocato
d'ufficio, come richiesto dalla pubblica accusa. La Corte - ha
precisato oggi il portavoce del Tpi - non ha ancora preso una decisione

TPI: MORTO EX PRESIDENTE CORTE CHE GIUDICA MILOSEVIC

(ANSA) - L'AJA, 1 LUG - E' morto questa mattina Richard May, il giudice
del Tribunale penale internazionale (Tpi) per la ex Jugoslavia che ha
presieduto, fino a qualche mese fa, la corte che sta giudicando
Slobodan Milosevic. La notizia e' stata data dall'ufficio stampa della
Corte. May, inglese, 65 anni, aveva lasciato l'incarico il 31 maggio
scorso per motivi di salute. ''May ha servito con grande capacita'

Umro Stipe Šuvar

U Zagrebu je 29.6.2004 u šezdeset i osmoj godini života umro Stipe
Šuvar, profesor univerziteta, urednik lista "Hrvatska ljevica" i vođa
poslednje socijalističke opcije u ovim krajevima. Šuvar je bio jedan od
istaknutih funkcionera SKJ i član Predsjedništva Jugoslavije u zadnjem
sazivu. Nikad se nije odrekao samoupravnog socijaliza nestalog s padom
berlinskog zida i propašću komunističkih partija. Stipe Šuvar umro je
ostavši dosljedan do posljednjeg daha borbi za socijalizam i
zajedništvo naroda na ovim prostorima. S njim je otišla jedna epoha:
umro je posljednji titoist, aktivan graditelj društva, u kojem je
većina ljudi živjela bolje i sretnije. U zadnjoj deceniji i po bilo je
teško i bolno živjeti ovdje i Šuvar je to opterećenje platio glavom.

A Stipom Šuvarom iz Hrvatske je otišao posljednji komad Jugoslavije i
posljednji trag lijeve misli. Nakon njega na poprištu ostali samo
hulje, kramari i dešperateri.

Negdje drugdje, u neko drugo vrijeme, neko će nastaviti borbu.

Vjerujem, da nas je sve koji smo se ovdije okupili, kao i mnoge druge
potresao odlazak sa životne scene Dr. Stipe Švara.


Minuta šutnje.


Ako čovijek cijeli svoj život ostvari na javnoj sceni, za opće dobro
onda on, bez obzira na ostale okolnosti ulazi u povijest. Ako ga u tom
njegovom nastojanju pokreću ideali, onda on taj život ostvaruje
ispunjeno i sretno, bez obzira na sve teškoće i opasnosti s kojima se
neminovno susreće. Životom ovih određenja živio je Stipe Šuvar.


Rođen 1936 u Zagvozdu u siromašnoj obitelji, siromašnog kraja, u
siromašna vremena, od rane je mladosti ispoljavao sklonosti prema
knjizi, školi i učenju, postigavši na tom životnom području maksimum. A
zahvaljujući pamćenju koje je graničilo sa biološko mogućim
impresionirao je svoju okolinu što mu je pomagalo u obavljanju
različitih djelatnosti.

Nakon završene gimnazije u Imotskom, u Zagrebu je završio pravni
fakultet. Po profesiji je bio profesor sociologije. Bavio se i
novinarstvom, uređivao je Studentski list, časopis Naše teme i časopis
Sociologija sela. Od 1962-1968 direktor je i istraživač u Agrarnom
institutu.

Političku karijeru započinje 70-ih godina prošlog stoljeća, a od 1974
do 1982 bi je republički sekretar za prosvijetu i kulturu, što po rangu
odgovara današnjem ministru. U tom razdoblju radi na nekoliko znaćajnih
i kapitalnih projekata: reforma školstva, započinjanje radova na
izgradnji Nacionalne i sveučilišne biblioteke u Zagrebu, Muzeju Mimara,
Muzeju arheoloških spomenika u Splitu, obnovi Muzeja sakralne
umjetnosti u Zadru.

1982 postaje član predsjednoštva CK SKH, a 1986-1989 član
predsjedništva CK SKJ od čega je godinu dana bio predsjednik
predsjedništva.

Od 1989 član je kolektivnog predsjedništva SFRJ kao hrvatski
predstavnik, odakle je smijenjen nakon promjene društveno političkog
uređenja.

Od 1982 bio je predavač na odsjeku za sociologiju Filozofskog fakulteta
u Zagrebu.

Sveobuhvatnom intelektualnom, prosvjetnom i političkom angažmanu Stipe
Šuvara treba dodati i publicistički kojeg opus se sastoji od dvadeset
knjiga. Zadnja Hrvatski karusel doživio je ovih dana i drugo izdanje.
Nedovršeno je ostalo političko autobiografsko djelo radnog naslova Za
sve su mi krivi hrvati i srbi.

U angažmanu Stipe Šuvara nakon društvenopolitičkih promjena značajno
mjesto ima 1994. Godina kada započinje sa izdavanjem

Hrvatske ljevice, jedinog časopisa takvog profila u hrvatskoj, kojeg je
sa suradnicima usprkos nedaćama uspio održati do danas.

U politiku se vraća 1997. Godine kada osniva SRP jedinu od 90-ak
stranaka u Hrvatskoj koja se programski zalaže za suvremeni Socijalizam
koji bi odgovarao civilizacijskim dosezima vremena u kojem živimo i
omogućio uvjete ljudskog dostojanstva.

Stipu Šuvara mnogi suvremenici iz javnog i političkog života opisuju i
doživljavaju kao kontroverznu ličnost. On to međutim nije bio, ali je
bio osebujna ličnost. Kontroverznima su ispali upravo oni koji ga tako
doživljavaju, jer mu u pravili i bez ostatka priznaju dosljednost. A
kontraverznost je po svome značenju u suprotnosti sa dosljednošću.

Stipu Šuvara nazivali su i posljednjim mohikancem, ili posljednjim
komunističkim ideologom. Ali Stipe Šuvar nije bio niti posljednji
mohikanac niti posljednji komunist, bioje jedini visokopozicionirani
političar iz prošlog sistema, koji je nastavio svojim putem slušajući
svoj unutrašni glas i njime se vodeći, ne skrećući pred vanjskom zovom
konformizma poput mnogih


Stipe Šuvar je bio i autentični antifašist, koji nije ni jeo ni pio ni
slavio sa onima koji su omogućili restauraciju nekih fašistoidnih
vrijednosti, ili su rušili obilježja koja podsjećaju na antifašističku
prošlost, ali je zato bio četiri puta fizički napadan i ozlijeđivan, pa
i vatrenim oružjem od strane neofašista.

Kao jedini predsjednik jedne polittičke stranke iz Hrvatske i kao
neosporno možda najstarij učesnik koračao je uspravno među nekoliko
desetaka hiljada demonstranata po iscrpljujućoj vrućini lipmja 1999
ispred američke vojne baze u Avianu. Protestirajući sa ostalima protiv
brutalnog bombardiranja NATO-a na dijelove nekad zajedničke države.

Dok se političari i institusije oko nas zalažu za pravnu državu Stipe
Šuvar je sa svojim političkim suradnicima propagirao potrebu
ostvarivanja pravednog društva, ma koliko ono nekima izgledalo
utopijsko i nedostižno, ali iznad svega potrebno. Ali nisu li sve
društvene promjene koje su se događale kroz povjest, nekad prije
ostvarenja započinjale sličnim utopijskim razmišljanima i da li bi bez
takvih razmišljanja bila moguća njihova ostvarenja.


Na kraju Vjerujem da se mnogi ljudi pitaju kako nekima uspijeva da
ustraju na svome putu do kraja, a drugima ne. Nauka na to pitanje još
nije odgovorila i dobro da je tako.

Što se tiče osobe Stipe Šuvara objašnjenje se vjerovatno krije u
Socijalnim prilikama vremena i područja u kome je rastao i stasao, tome
treba pridodati i vrlo važan detalj da nije podlegao klici nacionalizma
toliko prisutnoj na ovim prostorima.

Zbog svega toga mi koji smo imali priliku, čast i zadovoljstvo
učestvovati sa njime u jednom velikom još nedovršenom projektu ostajemo
ponosni i zahvalni Stipi Šuvaru.

Serbs are being systematically exterminated in Kosovo

As usual, it was not even reported in the American media, but in the
Serbian Press the picture showing dead bodies, including the body of a
four year old Serbian child, being placed in body bags was titled:
"Serbs are being systematically exterminated in Kosovo".
Is it just Serb melodrama, or is there, perhaps, a concern that the
American media is just systematically ignoring during this election
year? Would it be just too painful for Al Gorees candidacy to point out
that exterminating Serbs is the major Foreign Policy legacy of the
Clinton-Gore era?
As it turns out neither NATO nor the United Nations appears to be able
to keep their Albanian allies from killing United Nations employees -
if they happen to be Serbs. While I did not see the report anywhere
else, the United Nations website reported United Nations Secretary Kofi
Annanes message to the family members of a Serb UN staff member, Petar
Topoljski, as "a dark day for Kosovo."
There have been no arrests, and even if there were, of course, there is
no real judicial system in Kosovo, one year after the so-called KFOR
victory over Slobodan Milosevic. If there were arrests, according to a
report of a United Nations investigation headed by Ambassador Anwarul
Karim Chowdhury of Bangladesh on the United Nations own website
security in Kosovo is still a "major and continuing challenge." Even
when arrested, killers are quickly freed by the KLA controlled "civil
government" and judicial system of Kosovo. Ambassador Chowdhury said
that some violent incidents during the mission made the group
"comprehend better the reality of the situation."
One year into the United Nations and KFOR control over Kosovo the
Ambassador noted that while the "international community had invested
heavily in Kosovo and could not afford to fail" there was an urgent
need to address "ongoing staff shortages for both civil administration
and police" which "constrained UN operations." Introducing the
missiones report, Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury of Bangladesh,
said the Council "could not have envisaged" the enormity of the UNes
tasks in Kosovo when it adopted resolution 1244 (1999), which sets out
the tasks for the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
The fact of the matter is that KFOR and UNMIK actually HAVE allowed the
"systematic extermination" of Serbs in Kosovo. The number of Serbs in
the area of Gnjilane has shrunk from 12,000 to 800 since the end of the
war in June of 1999 according to the Security Council delegationes
report. Gnjilane is under the auspices of the U.S. military, sent by
Clinton without Congressional approval, and was immediately occupied by
the US Marines after the bombing was halted. The movement of those few
Serbs who remain is possible only with an escort of international
peacekeepers or police, according to UNMIK.
What that indicates is that the situation is far worse now than when
the bombing stopped. Last June I received an e-mail from a Marine
stationed with the KFOR troops in the area of Gnjilane. The first
e-mail reported that the Albanians were burning down the homes of the
Serbs, who had fled when it became obvious to them that there would be
no security for them.
His second e-mail reported:
Dear Mary,
Took a security patrol out a couple of days ago. Didnet run across any
bad guys. The little village we went through was interesting. Through
an interpreter, I found out that it had been occupied by regular VJ
(Yugoslavian) troops until a couple of weeks ago. The old man I spoke
with said that the Serb troops didnet steal or destroy anything in the
village and left everything as they had found it. Asked him about mines
and he said that they removed all of them and took them with them when
they left. Obviously very disciplined regular army troops.
The people in the village were ethnic Albanian but didnet seem to
harbor a lot of resentment toward the Serbs, I suppose having the
regular VJ in their village kept the MUP and paramilitary away. The old
man ended up guiding us through the fields and trails in the area.
(Good patrol tip, walk only where the locals walk.) He also went into
his house and gave us some smoked sausage, tomatoes, bread, and peppers.
Very poor people, so this really meant a lot. Weeve had nothing but
MREs for three weeks so the feast we had when we returned to our lines
was the highlight of the day. Anyhow, this was just one small village
and in no way can it be construed to represent what is going on or
happened in the rest of the country. Just some simple farmers who would
be glad just to be left alone to work the soil and live their lives.
Mostly old folks, women, and children. And the little ones just about
broke my heart. They have a healthy fear of men with guns. Ainet a
Marine here doesnet have a soft spot for the kids. This mess over here
isnet their fault. Ites a side of this hell hole that isnet glamorous
enough to make the evening news.
So, what, do you suppose, caused these simple Albanian farmers who had
no bad experiences with the Serb army, to drive out 99.4% of their Serb
neighbors, AFTER the Americans arrived to protect them? And, why has
the Clinton Administration not risen up in arms over this "genocide" of
Serbs?
It was only one year ago that every Clinton spokesman was talking about
stopping the "genocide" of Albanians. Undersecretary of State James
Rubin said on CNN March 29, 1999, that the Serbs were " ecommitting
genocidee by driving Albanians out of their homes and telling them to
leave the province, when there was a total of 77,000 Albanian refugees
after 6 days of bombing. The Albanian population is said to have been
1,800,000 and the Serb population of Kosovo 200,000. However, at the
borders on March 30, 1999, CNN reported a etricklee of refugees -
guessing that the Albanians were "too terrified to leave their homes."
If 4% of the Ethnic Albanians leaving Kosovo during the first week of
being bombed is "genocide" that needed to be stopped by 79 days of
bombing and the expenditure of, to date, $21 billion of American Tax
funds, what is the appropriate response of 99.4% of the Serbs being
either killed or driven out of Gniljane while under American military
occupation? Not surprisingly, the Serbs believe genocide is the goal of
the Clinton administration.
That leaves us Americans with two choices: Either Clinton was lying
about the Serbs committing genocide when 4% of the Albanians had fled
the province in late March 1999 or he and the U.S. media are covering
up a massive genocide against the Serbs who have either been killed or
have fled Gniljane while ites been under American military "protection."
After that statement by James Rubin was made, when United Nations
reported that 77,000 Albanians, 4% of the Ethnic Albanian population
were refugees from Kosovo, that "genocide" was used to justify the
continued bombing of Yugoslavia for an additional two and a half months.
Today, only 6% of the ethnic Serbs in American occupied Gnjilane
remain, and the situation is not even MENTIONED on CNN.
So, using James Rubines definition of "genocide" when a mere 4% of the
ethnic Albanian population had fled Kosovo, the Serbs certainly are on
solid semantic ground in accusing Bill Clinton of genocide against the
Serbs when 96.4% of the ethnic Serb population has been driven out of
the American protected section of Gnjilane.
Clinton has a unique legacy he can point to. He can rightfully claim to
be the first American president, at least since Andrew Jackson did
nothing while the Cherokees were driven en-masse out of Georgia, to
preside over a genocide of a minority group.

Albanian Fascists On The Rampage – Again

 
The ethnically charged demonstrations, killings and burnings of Serbian
homes and churches by Albanian extremists in the Serbian province of
Kosovo have led to over 30 deaths and many more injured. The dead and
injured include some UN (KFOR) troops.

The renewed violence is a further step in the attempt of the Albanian
terrorists (KLA) to achieve their objective of forcing the separation
of Kosovo from Serbia and creating an “ethnically pure” greater
Albania. Kosovo’s Albanian leaders do not accept UN Security Council
Resolution 1244 which declared Kosovo to be an inalienable part of
Serbia.

Following the 1999 NATO aggression against Yugoslavia, Kosovo was de
facto taken out of Serbian territory and power. Control of the province
passed to Albanian extremists. At least 200,000 Serbs, as well as
Gypsies, Jews and representatives of other ethnic groups, have been
expelled from Kosovo over the past few years.

A Greater Albania, in addition to Kosovo, would include areas of
Macedonia, Montenegro and parts of Northern Greece populated by
Albanians.

These mad plans would lead to a serious revision of national borders
and the explosion of the situation in the Balkans, which are called the
“powder keg of Europe.”

 
Return Serbian troops to Kosovo

Last week the Russian parliament unanimously passed a resolution saying
that Serbian-Montenegrin military forces should be allowed to help
defend the Kosovo Serbs.

The resolution condemned the failure of international organisations
[the UN and NATO] to stem the ethnic violence.

The Russian Duma, said a new UN resolution on Kosovo should be passed
to reaffirm the Serbian Government’s sovereignty over Kosovo and that
“the military units of Serbia-Montenegro should take part in defence of
the Serb population of the region, of Orthodox churches and guarding
borders.”

Serbia’s Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated that “events in the
northern part of Kosovo-Metohija reveal the true nature of Albanian
separatism, its violent and terrorist character”. The terrorist actions
of the Albanians are aimed at forcing out the remaining Serbs and the
UN so that the core business of the KLA – drugs, arms and human
trafficking – can proceed without disturbance.

Colonel Chris Platzer, commander of the Austrian KFOR contingent, on

Die Presse: What errors did KFOR peacekeeping forces make during the
March unrest?

Chris Platzer: We have problems at the operational level: there are too
few peacekeepers in the province. Before March there were about 17,500
men. During the unrest KFOR was reinforced by around 2,000 soldiers.
With that number of people we could not deal with the demonstrators.
The opposition was so organized that the situation could have escalated
everywhere at the same time and they were able to block our reserves.

It was also established that there were very strong limits within some
national contingents. Some countries prohibit the use of teargas while
others prohibit their contingents from going outside their zone of
engagement.

How was it possible that the situation was assessed so incorrectly?

Platzer: The organizers of the unrest kept it perfectly secret. It is
completely obvious that a single organization whose members have
military training is behind everything.

According to UNMIK chief Harri Holkeri, the intelligence services of
the NATO countries failed.

Platzer: I cannot agree with that. It is true that the services did not
cooperate sufficiently. But that would not have helped at all because
nobody knew anything. Now information exchange has been intensified.
How adequate it is I cannot judge. Every country has its national
secrets.

The Americans use mainly technical means to arrive at information. We
Europeans use sources in the country. However, we can only work in
uniform, not in civilian clothes. Naturally there are limits.

Do you fear that the violence may also be directed against the KFOR
peacekeeping forces?

Platzer: I believe that it is very improbable that it will be turned
against KFOR. As long as the status question is unresolved, the
situation will remain unbalanced.

But if KFOR ever finds itself in the position of having to make the
decision for or against independence, then the situation will have to
be reviewed again. It’s like lying next to a sleeping lion. As long as
it's sleeping, everything is fine.

What are the lessons from the events in March?

Platzer: A detailed analysis is in progress. We have intensified
training for handling demonstrators. We flew in additional equipment
and improved cooperation between military police and civilian police.
We also tactically analyzed how new threats might look.

And how might they look?

Platzer: We are afraid that guerrilla war tactics may be used against
the Serbian enclaves, for example, by planting explosives or grenade
launch attacks.

Die Presse: Welche Fehler hat die Kosovo-Friedenstruppe Kfor bei den
Unruhen im März gemacht?

Chris Platzer: Wir haben Probleme auf der operativen Ebene: Es sind zu
wenig Kräfte im Land. Vor März waren es etwa 17.500 Mann. Während der
Unruhen wurde die Truppe um 2000 Soldaten verstärkt. Wir sind mit der
Menge an Demonstranten nicht zu Rande gekommen. Die Organisation des
Gegners war so, dass sie die Situation überall gleichzeitig eskalieren
ließen und sie so in der Lage waren, unsere Reserven zu blockieren.

Es wurde auch festgestellt, dass es teilweise sehr starke
Einschränkungen bei den nationalen Kontingenten gibt: Manche dürfen
kein Tränengas verschießen, andere dürfen nicht aus ihrem Einsatzraum
raus. Das behindert.

Wie war es möglich, die Situation so falsch einzuschätzen?

Platzer: Die Organisatoren der Unruhen haben das perfekt geheim
gehalten. Ganz offensichtlich steckt eine Organisation dahinter, deren
Mitglieder militärisch ausgebildet sind.

Laut Harri Holkeri, dem Chef der UN-Mission, versagten die
Aufklärungsdienste der Nato-Länder.

Platzer: Dem kann ich nicht zustimmen. Es ist richtig, dass die Dienste
nicht ausreichend miteinander gesprochen haben. Aber das hätte auch
nichts genützt, weil niemand etwas wusste. Jetzt wurde der
Informationsaustausch verstärkt. Wie ausreichend er ist, kann ich nicht
beurteilen. Jeder hat seine nationalen Geheimnisse.

Die Amerikaner verwenden hauptsächlich technische Mittel, um
Erkenntnisse zu gewinnen. Wir Europäer verwenden Quellen im Lande. Wir
dürfen aber nur in Uniform ermitteln, nicht in Zivil. Da gibt es
natürliche Grenzen.

Befürchten Sie, dass sich die Gewalt auch gegen die Friedenstruppe Kfor
richten könnte?

Platzer: Dass man gegen Kfor als solche losgeht, halte ich für sehr
unwahrscheinlich. Solange die Statusfrage ungelöst ist, wird die Lage
in der Waage bleiben.

Aber wenn Kfor einmal dafür sorgen muss, eine Entscheidung für oder
gegen die Selbstständigkeit durchzusetzen, dann muss man das neu
betrachten. Es ist, wie neben einem schlafenden Löwen zu liegen.
Solange er schläft, ist alles in Ordnung.

Welche Lehren wurden aus den Ereignissen vom März gezogen?

Platzer: Es geschieht eine intensive Aufarbeitung. Wir haben die
Ausbildung für den Umgang mit Demonstranten intensiviert. Wir haben
zusätzliches Gerät eingeflogen und das Zusammenwirken zwischen
